Ericsson to handle more than 70% of Airtel Networks in India



  Bharti Airtel has signed a five-year deal with Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson.  According to the Indian Express report, the deal allows Ericsson to manage 70 per cent of Airtel’s network in India, and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) will be handling the rest of the network.
“This unique multi-technology managed services partnership with Ericsson will help us focus on creating a compelling service proposition for our customers, as we look to ramp up our market access for next generation services on 3G and 4G,” said Airtel’s Chief Executive Officer for India and South Asia.
Ericsson will operate Airtel’s networks in 15 service areas that include Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, UP, Rajasthan, Assam and the North East, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Chennai and Kerala. It will also serve Airtel’s prepaid customers.
Bharti Airtel, the leading global telecommunication companies that offers services in around 19 countries across Asia as well as Africa, stated that the deal is part of its efforts towards boosting its infrastructure in India, where the  usage of internet, mobile applications and smartphones would continue to grow in the years to come.
