New Smartphone Users prefer iPhone over Android

Those planning to buy a new Smartphone in the next 3 months are more inclined to iPhones, as compared to Androids, according to a survey conducted by ChangeWave. The research, which was conducted between June 6 and 15, and included over 4,100 respondents mostly from North America, found that out of the people looking to buy a new smartphone in the next 90 days, 46 percent were targeting an iOS device, and 32 percent said that they’ll get an Android-based device, according to the Digital Trends report.
Compared to last year’s data, the current figures indicate a spike in the demand for both iOS and Android platforms. Back in March, only 44 percent of smartphone buyers said they would be getting an iPhone and 31 percent said they were looking at Android. The rise in the demand for these devices has resulted in a major decline in the number of BlackBerry users. In the latest figures, only 4 percent of respondents indicated interest in buying a BlackBerry device; while in the last quarter, the number was 5 percent.
In addition to being the most preferred smartphone, Apple also ranks high in customer satisfaction, according to this study. Over 70 percent of iPhone owners indicated that they were happy with the devices. Only 50 percent of Android users expressed their satisfaction over the device, and in case of BlackBerry users the level of satisfaction was only 26 percent.
ChangeWave also considered Apple’s pending iCloud service, that might boost its mobile phone buying rates. The study revealed that 29 percent of existing Apple owners were more likely to buy Apple products because of iCloud and 13 percent of non-Apple owners would consider buying iPhone for its iCloud service.
iPhones and Androids currently dominate the smartphone market and are way ahead of BlackBerry, whose popularity seems to be diminishing, with the present smartphone users. So, which smartphone would you go for? iPhone or Android.
