SK Telecom launches world’s first LTE-Advanced network
SK telecom, a South Korean company has announced that it has successfully launched world’s first ever LTE Advanced network. This is basically a faster LTE standard and was initially reckoned by the International Telecommunication Union as a true 4G standard. According to reports, LTE Advanced network is efficient of transferring data with rates of approximately 150Mbps which is almost double as the speed offered by the standard 4G LTE available in the United States as well as in other places. The same is almost 10 times to the standard 3G.
The network business operation’s president of SK Telecom, Mr. Park In-sik said in an announcement, “By supporting twice faster speeds than LTE, LTE-A will not only enhance customers’ satisfaction in network quality, but also give birth to new mobile value added services that can bring innovative changes to our customers’ lives.”
The new, self proclaimed world’s first ever LTE Advanced network is presently available in Seoul along with some areas of Chungcheong-do and Gyeongg-do but plans are to enlarge the coverage to approximately 84 more cities across entire South Korea.
Currently the only phone making use of LTE Advanced network is Samsung Galaxy S4 but company has plans to make available almost 7 LTE Advanced network phones by the end of 2013.
