Sony To Increase Penetration Of Its Mobile Phones In Indian Market
Kenichiro Hibi, the managing director of Sony, told that mobile is contributing only 9% towards the total revenue of the company. For the year 2012-13, Sony has booked the profit of eight thousand Crore (8,000). He also told about his future plans and strategies for mobiles in the coming days. Escalating the penetration in Indian mobile market is the part of its strategy.
Indian mobile phone market is growing 16% every year and in 2012 it has reached 218 million units as per IDC research firm. This year the smart phone usage is estimated to be 34-36 million units. In Smart phone category, Sony has only Xperia presently. Hibi told that in upcoming days we have huge range of products and we will launch new models to replace old ones. He also told that Sony will control its AV audio visual technology and in Xperia range of mobile phone they will integrate those features. Sony has several other features that will be the part of upcoming mobiles. These features are considered to attract smart phone users greatly.
He also revealed that for mobile phones, we have completely changed the strategy to make the Sony AV technologies trademark in mobile market.
