Andhra Pradesh IT minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that the state government of AP is all set to launch GAME policy. The draft of this GAME (gaming, Animation, Media and Entertainment) is almost complete. The incubation centre that is being developed in Madhapur, Hyderabad will be ready by this year’s 15th August.
One more benefit that the state government is planning for small entrepreneurs and companies is that an 8 lac sq-ft animation and gaming facility, which is being developed at Rayadurgam will possess the facilities for even the smaller companies to set up and carry out their projects. All these steps are being taken for the growth and development of gaming and animation industry.
While inaugurating Creative Mentors Animation and Gaming College , that is the first virtual online college of Andhra Pradesh in Hyderabad, the IT minister said that despite of possessing the creativity, there was the absence of connectivity here. Thus this would be the government’s step towards bridging the gap. He also said that in the software exports worth $100-billion all around the world, the gaming and animation industry’s share is just 1 per cent. Thus, this sector possesses a great amount of untapped potential.
The Indian gaming and animation industry is currently growing at 15 – 20 per cent and with this kind of astonishing growth speed, the requisite of skilled game and animation development professionals is also growing at a fast pace. As per ASSOCHAM Indian software and gaming industry is devoid of skilled workforce and there is a shortage of about 3 lac software professionals in the industry.
This step from AP government will help the country establish its name in the global gaming and animation market. It will also help in generating several job opportunities for deserving and skilled professionals.
