India ousts Japan as third largest Smartphone market in the world

India has today ousted Japan by being the third largest Smartphone market in the world. The all credit goes to domestic brands like Spice, Micromax, Karbonn and the globally accepted brands Apple and Samsung. Google’s smart phone operating system Android has also contributed heavily in making available incredible features that actually make a mobile phone smart.
India’s Smartphone market has grown massively with a rate of 163% in first quarter of year 2013. India with this gigantic growth has pushed back the tech giant Japan by acquiring the third place worldwide in the field of largest Smartphone market following China and U.S.A, being at the top two positions. This is the first time ever that India has successfully moved among number three position in the leading race of companies in largest Smartphone market globally.
Undoubtedly Apple and Samsung have remained the most sold brands in India, but the reports also revealed that some Indian brands like Spice, Micromax and Karbonn have contributed hugely in getting India to the leading third position worldwide. Reportedly these three Indian brands have a grown at the rate of unbelievable 200-250% annually. Moreover the presence of big number of Smartphone micro vendors has also made the difference, e.g. Lemon Mobile has showed a tremendous growth of 1000%.
In the words of experts, “Key brands driving the upswing include foreign firms such as Samsung and Apple… But it is domestic players who are seeing the fastest growth.” This giant success role goes to Android mobiles and their high demand among people. A study revealed, “They are almost all using Android software, which captured 89% share of the entire market in the quarter.”
If the growth continues at same pace, experts believe that soon India will be running ahead of China.
